The Best 15 AI Sentence Rewriters of 2025 (Tested & Reviewed)

Last week, I was at my desk, struggling with a paragraph that just didn’t sound right.

The words felt heavy, and I wanted them to flow better. So, I turned to AI sentence rewriters to help make my writing smoother.

How I Tested These AI Sentence Rewriters

I wanted to find out which AI sentence rewriters really deliver, so I tested them myself.

Using the same sentence across all tools, I checked how well they improved my words.

I looked at how close the new sentences stayed to my original meaning. I also played with tone options, like casual or professional, to see their flexibility.

I counted the number of rewrite variations each tool offered. Plus, I tested if they supported different languages.

I ranked each tool based on these factors:

  • Similarity to the original sentence
  • Tone options
  • Number of variants
  • Language options

By the end, I knew which tools shone and which ones fell short.

How Do You Choose The Best AI Sentence Rewriters?

Having tested a range of AI sentence rewriters, I realized what is crucial when deciding on the best choices:

Similarity to the Original Sentence

I first check if the tool keeps the meaning of my sentence intact. A good rewriter improves the words without changing my idea.

Tone Options

Next, I look at the tone settings. I want a tool that offers styles like casual or formal to match my needs.

Number of Variants

I also count how many rewrite options the tool gives. More variants mean I have better choices for my writing.

Language Options

Finally, I test if the tool supports other languages. A great rewriter handles multiple languages for diverse projects.

The Best 15 AI Sentence Rewriters (Ranked)

I tested dozens of AI sentence rewriters and ranked the top 15 based on their tone, variant, and language options.

1. WriterBuddy

WriterBuddy is our in-house AI sentence rewriting tool

At first, I thought the 500-character limit might be too small. But it worked well for short sentences.

The tool gave me 3 results right away. I liked that I could choose to see up to 10 options if I wanted more ideas.

If I saw a version I liked but wasn’t ready to use, I clicked the “Star” icon to save it.

I later found all my saved rewrites in the “Favorites” tab, which made it easy to keep track.

If I changed my mind, I just un-starred the ones I didn’t want anymore.

Sometimes the rewrites felt a little stiff. I used the “Paraphrase Summary” feature to make them sound more natural.

Even without tone or language settings in the free version, WriterBuddy still worked great for me.

Limitation: No tone or language option in the free version.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I began by accessing WriterBuddy’s AI Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: I just typed out the text and clicked on the Rewrite Sentence button.

Step 3: The tool generated 3 results automatically.

I clicked on the Double-square button on the right to copy the text.

WriterBuddy is a simple and useful tool for rewriting single sentences.

I liked how it gave me multiple options to choose from, so I could find the version that fit my tone or writing style best.

For basic rewriting needs, it did the job well.

If you’re looking for more advanced features like changing tone, choosing different languages, or working with longer text, you might need to upgrade to a paid plan.

But for quick rewrites or brainstorming better ways to say something, WriterBuddy is a strong and dependable choice.

2. Ahrefs

I wanted to improve one difficult sentence, so I gave Ahrefs a try.

Right away, I liked how many choices it gave me. I could pick the language, tone, structure, and even how many sentence options I wanted.

I chose 5 outputs, in bullet form, and played with sentence length. It felt like a creative playground.

Each version looked different, which helped me see my sentence in new ways. Some were more formal, others were casual.

I liked being able to experiment freely. It didn’t feel limiting at all.

When I didn’t like a version, I just tried again. It was quick, easy, and kind of fun.

Limitation: None.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I accessed Ahrefs AI Sentence Rewriter in my browser.

Step 2: Typed out a tough sentence that I want to rewrite.

I selected the language, writing tone, structure, and variants. Finally, I hit the Rewrite Sentence button.

Step 3: The tool generated about 5 variants, as requested.

I just clicked on the Copy button to use the text elsewhere.

Ahrefs AI Sentence Rewriter gave me exactly what I needed.

I liked choosing the tone, language, and sentence structure. It felt flexible and fun to use.

Each rewrite showed me a new way to say the same thing.

If you like experimenting and want more control over your rewrites, this tool is a great choice.

3. QuillBot

I used QuillBot’s AI Sentence Rewriter when I was stuck rewriting a few lines.

I didn’t want to start from scratch. I picked the Standard mode since it was free.

There were other writing modes too, but most of them needed a paid upgrade.

Same with languages. Only English worked without Premium. Still, I found a way to improve the output.

When the sentence didn’t sound right, I increased the number of synonyms. That small change really helped.

The rephrased sentences looked fresher and more natural.

I just clicked the “Rephrase” button and tried again. It felt easy and fast.

For quick edits and basic rewrites, it worked well enough for me. I’d use it again for simple tasks.

Limitation: Not all features are free.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: Headed straight to QuillBot AI Sentence Rewriter Tool’s page to get started.

Step 2: I typed out the sentence that I want to rewrite.

I chose the Standard mode (because it’s free), selected more synonyms, and clicked the Rephrase button.

Step 3: The output looked alright. I could see which words were changed, depicted in red.

QuillBot helped me fix a few tricky lines without starting over.

I used the free Standard mode, which was good for basic rewrites.

Most extra features, like other writing modes and languages, needed a paid upgrade.

I’d use it again for everyday writing tasks.

4. Scribbr

I gave Scribbr’s AI Sentence Rewriter a try.

It was fast. I didn’t even have to click anything. As soon as I typed my sentence, it rewrote it for me.

I liked that I could adjust the number of synonyms. I always pushed it to the max.

There were only two writing tones to pick from. That felt a bit limited.

Since I was using Scribbr, I also had access to other tools like the plagiarism checker and the AI detector. So I could do more in one place.

Scribbr was smooth, fast, and easy to use.

Limitation: Only 2 writing tones.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I accessed Scribbr AI Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: After typing out the sentence, I didn’t even have to click any button.

The tool automatically rewrote the sentence.

I just made sure that I selected the maximum number of synonyms in the output.

Step 3: The output came out as requested in the Standard tone.

The tool was easy to use and did what I needed.

I only wish there were more tone options. Right now, there are just two.

But since I was already on Scribbr, I could also check for plagiarism and run the AI detector.

For quick, no-fuss rewriting with a few helpful extras, Scribbr did a good job.

5. SurferSEO

I gave SurferSEO’s AI Sentence Rewriter a try while editing a few tricky lines in my article.

It was simple to use. I picked from four tone options: Neutral, Formal, Casual, and Enthusiastic.

I liked having the option to simplify the sentence if it felt too hard to read.

The tool let me rewrite as many sentences as I wanted, as long as I stayed under the 5000-character limit.

It only gave me one version, though. I wished there were more options.

I also liked seeing the word and character count in the output. That made it easy to stay within my target.

Limitation: Generates only 1 variant.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I accessed SurferSEO AI Sentence Rewriter on my browser.

Step 2: After writing down the text, I selected the tone and agreed to simplify the sentence. Then, clicked the Generate button.

Step 3: I was happy to see the output coming out nicely.

I could also see the number of characters and words used in the new sentence.

The word and character count made it easier to stay within my writing limits.

The main downside was that it only gave me one rewritten version. I wanted more options to compare.

For short edits and quick tone changes, this tool worked well.

I’d use it again when I need a fast fix for a sentence or two.

6. Writesonic

I gave the Writesonic AI Sentence Rewriter a try.

I typed in my sentence, picked a tone, and hit the button.

The tones were pretty standard — formal, casual, diplomatic, friendly, simplified, and a few others.

I liked that the tool showed me the word and character count right above the output. That helped me stay within my limit.

The tool only gave me one version of the sentence. So if I didn’t like it, I had to rewrite or adjust it myself.

It also supported only the most common languages, which worked for me, but might be limiting for others.

Limitation: Just 1 variation.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I got started by accessing the Writesonic AI Sentence Rewriter on my device.

Step 2: I used the same sentence, chose the tone, and clicked the Generate button.

Step 3: I was glad I could see the number of characters and words above the output.

Writesonic’s AI Sentence Rewriter was quick and simple to use.

It supports only common languages, which was fine for me but could be a downside for others.

Overall, it’s good for quick edits in a set tone. But I do wish it offered more than one variation.

7. Jotform

I tried the Jotform AI Sentence Rewriter, and I had fun with it.

The first thing I noticed was the different tone options.

I picked the “passive-aggressive” one just to see what would happen. I laughed at how accurate it was.

The tool gave me more tone choices than any other rewriter I’ve used.

I saw options like remorseful, defiant, reconciliatory, apologetic, and more.

I could even choose the sentence length. I liked that I could shorten or expand the text with one click.

Every tone I tested felt real. It also supported more languages than I expected.

Limitation: Only 1 output.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I started by using the Jotform AI Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: After typing the usual text, I selected the tone, length, and structure. Then, I just clicked on Rewrite.

Step 3: It was funny that I chose the “passive-aggressive” tone.

The output came out just as I requested.

Jotform’s AI Sentence Rewriter surprised me in a good way.

I had fun testing it. The tone options were the first thing that stood out.

The only downside? It gave just one version per rewrite.

Still, the experience was creative, fun, and useful.

8. Get Voila

I tried the Get Voila AI Sentence Rewriter when I needed help rewriting a paragraph.

It was simple to use. I just typed my sentence into the box and picked a tone.

I saw tone options like journalistic, confident, exciting, luxury, diplomatic, and neutral. I picked “confident” for my essay.

The result came back quickly, and I liked it. I copied the new sentence and added it to my paper right away.

It only gave me one version of the sentence, so I had to try again if I wanted a different take.

I also liked that it supported different languages.

I could even download the tool, but it needs a sign-up.

Limitation: Generates only 1 variant.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: First, I visited the Get Voila AI Sentence Rewriter’s page.

Step 2: I typed out the sentence, chose the tone, and pressed the Rewrite Sentence button.

Step 3: The response was pretty quick.

I just copied the new text and used it in my paper.

Get Voila’s AI Sentence Rewriter was easy to use and gave me quick results.

I liked the variety of tone options.

The tool only gave one version, so if I didn’t like it, I had to rewrite again.

There’s an option to download the tool too, but it requires signing up.

Overall, it’s a fast and helpful rewriter with a good mix of tones.

9. Sentence Rewriter

I tried the Sentence Rewriter AI tool when I needed to rewrite a few lines for a report. It was very easy to use.

I just typed my sentence into the box, chose the creativity level, and picked a writing style.

Then I clicked the “Rewrite Text” button. That was it.

I picked the “Simple” style, so the output was clear and easy to read. The tool followed the instructions well.

There were 4 creativity levels to choose from: conservative, balanced, creative, and very creative.

I also saw that I could rewrite sentences in several popular languages, which was a nice touch.

It only gave me one version of the sentence, but that was okay for quick work.

Limitation: Generates only 1 variant.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I accessed the AI Sentence Rewriter.

Step 2: I wrote the sentence, chose the creativity level, and the writing style.

After that, I clicked the Rewrite Text button.

Step 3: Since I chose the Simple writing style, the output followed that instruction.

Sentence Rewriter AI was quick and easy to use.

I needed to rewrite a few lines for a report, and the tool made it simple.

I liked being able to choose both the creativity level and writing style.

For quick edits and straightforward rewrites, it was enough for me.

10. Grammarly

I used Grammarly’s AI Sentence Rewriter when I wanted my text to sound more academic.

I didn’t see any tone options to choose from, so I just typed in “college-grade tone” as an instruction.

The tool followed it and gave me a reworded version that sounded more formal. That worked for me.

But I do wish it had built-in tone options, like a dropdown or list. It would be easier to select what I want.

Right now, I have to type everything out.

There are no language, structure, or variant choices either.

Still, I liked that I could be specific with my tone.

Limitation: No language, structure, or variant option.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I opened the Grammarly Sentence Rewriter in my browser.

Step 2: I entered the text and hit Continue

Step 3: I wanted the text to have a college-grade tone, so that’s what I wrote down. Then, I selected the option Reword It.

Step 4: The tool generated the output based on my tone choice.

Later, I copied the text to use externally.

Grammarly’s AI Sentence Rewriter helped me make my text sound more academic.

There were also no options for sentence structure, languages, or multiple outputs. I had to write everything in the prompt.

The good part is that it lets you be specific about what you want.

For targeted rewrites with a clear tone in mind, it does the job.

11. Semrush

I tried the Semrush AI Sentence Rewriter for this blog.

There were only a few tone options: Casual, Formal, Improve, and Simplify.

I picked “Improve” for most of my edits.

I could rewrite my sentences three times for free. After that, it asked me to upgrade. That was a bit annoying.

The tool also showed word count and character count in the corner. That helped me stay within my limit.

I didn’t need the “Summarize” button since I was only changing a sentence. It had a toolkit too, which helped me optimize the content.

Compared to other tools, Semrush gave me more to explore. But I missed having more tone options and language settings.

Limitation: Upgrade after 3 tries. No language option. Only 1 variant.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I opened Semrush AI Sentence Rewriter in my browser. No need to install anything.

Step 2: After pasting the text, I chose the Simplify option, and hit the Paraphrase button.

Step 3: I liked the simplified version of the sentence.

This tool also has a toolkit to optimize my content, which I could use to optimize the sentence.

Semrush’s AI Sentence Rewriter was easy to use and gave me helpful edits.

I liked that it came with a toolkit to optimize my content, especially for blog writing.

But there were a few limits. I only got 3 free rewrites before it asked me to upgrade.

Still, if you’re working on SEO content and want quick edits with extra tools, this one’s worth trying.

12. Summarizer

The Summarizer AI Sentence Rewriter let me rewrite multiple sentences as long as I stayed under the 300-word limit.

Also, I really liked that it gave me 5 different versions of the sentence. Not many tools do that.

If I didn’t like any of the outputs, I could just click “Rewrite Again” and get five more.

I didn’t have to think too much or make changes by hand. The tool responded fast and handled my input well.

The only thing missing was a language option. It only worked in English.

But for what I needed, it worked just fine. I’d use it again for fast rewrites and summaries.

Limitation: No language option.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I began by navigating to the Summarizer Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: I wrote down the sentence, selected the tone, and the variants. After that, I hit the Rewrite My Sentences button.

Step 3: I was happy to see 5 variations of the same sentence.

So, I just picked the one that resonated with me and used it in my paper.

The Summarizer AI Sentence Rewriter gave me more than I expected.

I liked that I could rewrite several sentences at once, as long as I stayed under 300 words.

What really stood out was getting 5 versions at once.

The only downside is that it only works in English. Everything else is good.

13. ProWritingAid

I tried the ProWritingAid AI Sentence Rewriter and found it pretty easy to use.

After I clicked the “Rephrase” button, I got to choose the tone. That part felt a little different from other tools.

It had options like formal, informal, sensory, emotional, shorten, and expand.

I liked seeing 3 different outputs each time. It gave me a chance to pick the best one.

But there was a limit. I could only use it 8 times a day. So I had to be careful not to waste my efforts.

I also noticed there was no option to switch languages, which felt a bit limiting.

Limitation: Allows 8 attempts per day. No language option.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I started by using the ProWritingAid AI Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: I typed out the sentence and clicked on the Rephrase button.

Step 3: The tone options appeared. So, I selected Sensory for the experiment.

I selected the rewrite at the top.

ProWritingAid’s AI Sentence Rewriter was easy to use and gave me solid results.

I liked getting 3 outputs at once. That helped me pick the best one without much effort.

However, I could only use the tool 8 times a day. There was also no way to change the language either.

Still, for thoughtful rewrites with tone control, it worked well.

14. SE Ranking

I tried SE Ranking’s AI Sentence Rewriter, and it felt simple from the start.

I got 5 free attempts each day, which was enough for testing.

I could paste as many sentences as I wanted. There was a word limit of 200 words.

On the top right, I noticed options to shorten, expand, or keep the structure.

I chose not to change the structure, and that gave me the most satisfying result.

Still, I liked having the Shorten and Expand buttons below for quick changes. It felt easy to control.

The tool didn’t feel heavy or confusing. I could experiment without wasting time.

Limitation: Generates only 1 output at a time.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1:  I opened the SE Ranking AI Sentence Rewriter

Step 2: I typed out the sentence, chose the writing tone, and hit the Rewrite sentence button.

Step 3: The result is decent.

I liked that there are Rephrase, Shorten, and Expand buttons below in case I want to change the output.

SE Ranking’s AI Sentence Rewriter felt easy to use right from the start.

I liked that I could paste full paragraphs, as long as they stayed under 200 words.

The option to shorten, expand, or keep the structure gave me more control.

I also liked having extra buttons below to rephrase or adjust the text further.

Overall, the tool is clean, flexible, and useful.

15. ClickRank

I used the ClickRank AI Sentence Rewriter to test a few lines of my writing.

The tone choices felt basic, but they worked fine for everyday content.

After I hit the “Rewrite” button, it gave me just one version of the sentence. I wanted more options to choose from.

The rewritten sentence was usually longer than my original.

There was no language selection either, so I had to stick with English. Still, the tool was fast and easy to use.

Limitation: Generates only 1 variant. No language option.

This is what I did step by step:

Step 1: I opened the browser and opened the ClickRank AI Sentence Rewriter.

Step 2: After writing down the sentence I want to convert, I chose the writing tone, and clicked the Rewrite Sentence button.

Step 3: The output is alright, a bit longer than the original sentence.

ClickRank’s tone options were basic but worked well for casual writing.

I hoped for more options to compare, but that wasn’t available.

There was no language setting either, so I had to stick with English.

Still, the tool was easy to use and gave me decent results.
