Four letter words ending in ‘Q’ are rare, but there are still a number of commonly used and accepted words such as burq, elhiq, faqir, hafiz, jinqi, kamik, niqab, qaids, roque, tuque and vique. The majority of four letter words with the ‘Q’ sound use an apostrophe to indicate that the preceding letter is silent (e.g. faqir) or preceded by another letter (e.g. roque). This applies to all nouns and adjectives ending in ‘Q’ however verbs may omit the apostrophe after the ‘Q’.
